2022 saw the formation of Barber County United’s Mental Health Initiative (MHI) with a commitment to fostering an environment of awareness and support surrounding mental health in Barber County. BCU is linking resources to build a “mental health safety net” of Barber County residents helping Barber County residents.

Funded by county American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) funds, the MHI has taken a “boots on the ground” approach to implementing projects identified locally as providing wellness support to the overall mental health of Barber County residents. Nurturing this marked commitment by the county commissioners, MHI is completing projects county-wide through 2024.
